What People Say
Baljit has been leading a significant piece of consultancy work for us at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama since July 2020. This began with her sensitively facilitating a series of Listen & Learn workshops for our staff and students, resulting in clear and extremely helpful findings being presented by Baljit to our Senior Management team in September 2020. Following this we set up a staff/student Anti-Racism Task Force, chaired brilliantly once again by Baljit, to turn these findings into recommendations and to begin formulating an Action Plan for the School to implement. We are now in the process of establishing a new Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, using the the recommendations from the Anti-Racism Task Force. Throughout our continuing consultation with her, Baljit has empowered the Guildhall School community to be confident in taking responsibility for committing to embedding a teaching, learning and pastoral culture of equity, inclusivity and belonging across its staff and student community. Baljit’s empathetic, focused, positive, pragmatic and solutions-based approach is nothing short of extraordinary, and I cannot recommend her highly enough!
- Sean Gregory, Director of Innovation & Engagement, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, February 2021
Baljit delivered a training session addressing racism for us at the Orbit Housing Customer and Communities Board in September 2020. It was excellent. She created a safe space for us to have some uncomfortable conversations, which was exactly what was needed. She firmly and respectfully kept us focused where we needed to be, ensuring contributions from everyone. Delivered virtually, but with no less impact than if we had been face to face. We didn't just talk, we also agreed some specific, practical actions - essential for making meaningful progress. Thank you Baljit, I look forward to working with you again.
- Helen Gillett, board member, Orbit Housing, September 2020
We commissioned Baljit to run our Trinity Laban Dignity at Work (Banter) workshops for managers and staff. It was great working with her and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or work with Baljit again. Feedback from attendees was consistently excellent. Her engaging personality, expertise and facilitation skills led to difficult areas being discussed more openly and explored more freely. She also made a point of providing insights back to People & OD on what themes (common and outriders) were emerging from the sessions so that we could use this to build on what is already working well across the Conservatoire and challenge ourselves to do better on things that were working less well. Thank you Baljit and keep up the great work.
- Paul Neville, organisational development Lead, June 2020
Baljit is an excellent presenter and trainer. The session on diversity and inclusion was informative, insightful and thought-provoking. The 'myth-busting' quiz at the start of the training highlighted gaps in our knowledge which was quite startling. However, Bal's friendly and professional manner created an open atmosphere which enabled us to fully understand the differences between terms such as equality, diversity and inclusion. We found the scenarios very useful in generating really good conversations and the competitive element made the session even more engaging. The sections on unconscious bias and positive discrimination were particularly thought-provoking; Bal addressed these sensitive topics with great subject knowledge and compassion. As a result of this training, we will certainly reassess policies to further embed equality, diversity and inclusion in our setting.

I thought the material, the trainer (Baljit) and the group discussion were really effective. I was already interested in the subject matter and had researched it a little, and the course met all my expectations. I was particularly impressed with the way Baljit answered the often difficult questions that were raised – her explanations were well informed and clear and precise.
